The Recipe’s Story

The mixed fruit smoothie is a breakfast and snack time classic that we all know and love for its nutrition, delicious taste, and simplicity. But how do you elevate an already-perfect recipe? This is where our spin on the classic, frozen mixed fruit smoothie comes into play. And, you’ll be happy to know that our version can be whipped up with just a knife, a blender and a few minutes. Just slice up the banana and blend the ingredients together, and voilà: your smoothie is ready to go!

When we made this recipe, we paid careful attention to the details to create a perfect balance between all of the fruit involved. The strawberries bring a touch of tanginess that’s balanced by the sweetness of the banana and the lushness of the peaches. The pineapple and mango add tropical notes that’ll make you feel like you’re on a refreshing vacation with every sip. This smoothie is a winning combo of the best fruit, and we think you’ll love it as much as we do!

You’ve probably noticed that this smoothie uses frozen mixed fruit as the main ingredient, and you may be wondering why. Well, opting for frozen fruit instead of freshly cut has multiple benefits for smoothies. Firstly, frozen fruits are often more nutritious than fresh fruit, because they’ve been frozen at the peak of ripeness – which is when they have the highest vitamin content. Secondly, using frozen fruit means you don’t have to add ice cubes, so you’re getting less water and more flavor in your smoothie. In short, you’ll want to use frozen fruit if you’re making any smoothie – not just this one!

One of our favorite things about this smoothie is how customizable it is. Want something a little sweeter? Just add a tablespoon of honey! For a richer taste, you can swap out the vanilla low fat yogurt for greek yogurt. Or, if you’re a health enthusiast and you want an extra nutritional smoothie, you can add a tablespoon of a chia and flax seed mix to up your omega-3s and fiber intake. You can even add a scoop of protein powder to get a boost of energy ahead of your workout. We’ve provided you the perfect base, but the finishing touches are all up to you!

This smoothie is the perfect pick me up for any time of day, from a healthy breakfast, to a midday snack, or a wholesome dessert. And whether you’ve tried countless smoothies, or you’re making one for the first time, we have a feeling that this recipe will become one of your favorites. So go ahead, blend it up and you’ll understand what sets this smoothie apart from the rest!
