Clinical Trials

Study to assess the Glycemic Response of GBP

Purpose of the clinical study

A clinical trial was conduced to determine the glycemic response (GR) and establish low glycemic index (GI) of Green Banana Powder (GBP), Psyllium Husk and Maltodextrin. GR refers to the changes that happen in blood glucose after consumption of a carbohydrate-containing food.

Methodology

  1. GR after consumption of GBP, Psyllium husk, and maltodextrin, was measured at two dosage levels using in-vivo testing. The sample size for the study included healthy volunteers.

  2. During each visit, the subject’s capillary fasting samples were obtained by a finger prick after ensuring an overnight fast.

  3. Blood samples were obtained at regular intervals and results were thereafter plotted at different dosage levels.

Results & Potential Claims

The study indicates that the GR of GBP is similar to that of the positive control (Psyllium Husk) in this research study. The low GR and low GI properties of GBP are beneficial in industry wide food applications.
