Impact of GBP and PFP on the Gut Microbiome

Purpose of the clinical study

The goal of this study was to identify the changes in gut microbiome and metabolic functional capabilities after the consumption of Green Banana Powder (GBP) and Pineapple Fiber Powder (PFP). Additionally, the study also evaluated changes in Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms.

Methodology

  1. Study comprised of participants divided into three cohorts (control, GBP and PFP). For two weeks, the volunteers in the treatment group consumed target dosage levels of GBP and PFP. Those in the control group consumed Maltodextrin (MDX).

  2. The participants were instructed to consume powders stirred into a cup of water, juice, or milk in the morning with their breakfast. Stool samples were collected at equal intervals during the study period.

Results & Potential Claims

It was observed that GBP and PFP improved gut health by increasing the levels of beneficial bacteria. Some of these bacteria are also linked to several other health benefits including boosted immunity, reduced chronic diseases & inflammation, improved immunity and boosted metabolism.

The powders enhanced metabolism by promoting the production of histidine, branched-chain amino acids, and short-chain fatty acids. Additionally, biotin production was observed with the use of PFP.

Furthermore, Improvement in Bowel Movements and stool quality was also observed.
