During our Let Sunshine In, Drive Hunger Out promotion on Thursday, November 15, 2018, for every 20 oz can of DOLE® Pineapple purchased at a participating retailer, Dole Packaged Foods, LLC will give one 20 oz can to a community food bank.
American Idol winner Phillip Phillips is a multiplatinum singer-songwriter who is passionate about supporting hunger relief efforts across the U.S. In traveling the country, he’s witnessed friends and neighbors struggling with the uncertainty of not having enough healthy food on the table. He is working with Dole Packaged Foods, LLC on the Let Sunshine In, Drive Hunger Out campaign to provide a ray of sunshine to those less fortunate this winter. Consumers can buy one 20 oz can of DOLE Canned Pineapple on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at participating retailers and Dole Packaged Foods, LLC will give one 20 oz can to a community food bank.
The Kroger Co. retailers participating in the holiday campaign are: Kroger, Ralphs, Food4Less, Dillons, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Smith’s, Fry’s (Food Stores) and QFC (Quality Food Centers).  

Dole Packaged Foods, LLC will provide up to 250,000 20 oz cans of pineapple. Our food bank partners have named canned fruit as one of the most needed items, so Dole Packaged Foods, LLC is responding to this need with the Let Sunshine In, Drive Hunger Out campaign where consumers can buy one 20 oz can of DOLE Canned Pineapple on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at participating retailers and Dole Packaged Foods, LLC will give one 20 oz can to a community food bank.

The 20 oz cans will be provided to community food banks across the U.S. including but not limited to, the following regions:

The 20 oz cans will be distributed to community food banks in January and February 2019. Food contributions are needed year-round, so Dole Packaged Foods, LLC wanted to make an impact after the holiday season.

We are telling consumers about the campaign in several ways, through:

  • Placements in key print, online and broadcast media
  • Radio spots on local stations
  • Digital video with social media support
Dole Packaged Foods, LLC has been committed to hunger relief for generations and donates over 1 million pounds of healthy food each year to support families in need. In addition to product donation, Dole Packaged Foods, LLC supports local food banks and hunger relief organizations through employee volunteerism.
The Let Sunshine In, Drive Hunger Out campaign involves a Buy One, We’ll Give One aspect to engage consumers this holiday season by showing how small, yet collaborative efforts can have a big impact on hunger relief.
